Sibongiseni Mkhonta

Sibongiseni Mkhonta holds a Metallurgy and Materials Engineering degree from University of the Witwatersrand. Her academic excellence earned her a prestigious award from the Southern African Institute of Mining and Metallurgy for being the top performing student in her final year. She launched her career in banking, where she worked at FirstRand Bank as a quantitative graduate trainee across various divisions such as group treasury and market risk. She then worked at Liberty as a treasury specialist where she was responsible for funding and liquidity management.

Moreover, Sibongiseni is a technology entrepreneur and finance professional with a passion for the application of technology in finance and investments. She is a visionary entrepreneur who co-founded FinanceGPT, an innovative platform that aims to empower businesses, irrespective of size, to access comprehensive financial insights enabling them to make informed business decisions and drive growth. Sibongiseni’s passion for financial technology stems from her belief that it can be a catalyst for transforming small businesses and empowering their founders to create lasting impact.

Her ability to merge her love for finance and technology has set her apart as a leader in her field. Her work has been covered by various industry publications such as TechCrunch and Tech In Africa. One of her entrepreneurial achievements, FinanceGPT, was named Top 8 Fintech startup in Africa by Ecobank and Top 19 Fintech startup in the world by the monetary authority of Singapore. With a Master of Management in Finance and Investment from Wits Business School and her entrepreneurial spirit, Sibongiseni is poised to continue changing the finance industry.
