Departure and opportunity at the MRF
We are writing to share some bittersweet news from the Foundation.
After five years of leading the Communications and Alumni Relations department, Abigail McDougall will be leaving the MRF to pursue a career in publishing. She will step down at the end of December.
Her departure comes as we are gearing up for the next ten year strategy of the MRF. We are therefore recruiting an External Relations Director that can pick up where Abi leaves off. This role also intends to bring some new elements to our communications and outreach efforts, as we work towards our audacious goal of reaching all 55 African countries and continuing to expand our alumni impact.
MRF CEO Judy Sikuza had this to say:
“Abi joined us nearly five years ago to establish the Foundation’s communications and alumni relations activities more formally; and what a valuable contribution it has been. Her sharp intellect, creativity, dedication to excellence, caring soul and embodiment of our purpose will be deeply missed by the team. Given that Abi is an alumnus, we rest easy knowing that she will always be part of the MRF family. We have no doubt that she will bring vigour, curiosity, and transformative impact wherever her journey takes her next.”
Abigail added, “I’ve relished the challenge of building the comms and alumni relations department and enjoyed every connection I’ve made through the MRF community. I’m proud of what we’ve achieved as a team. Equally, the time has come for me to move on and chase my other dreams. Thank you to the MRF for the opportunity, to my colleagues, and to the community for allowing me to grow with you.”
