Re-Imagining African Agency in Times of Crisis: join our Africa Day Webinar

The Mandela Rhodes Foundation and the Higherlife Foundation are pleased to announce our joint webinar convening on Africa Day, the 25th of May 2020. We are inviting the young leaders in our networks to gather for a conversation on Re-imagining African Agency in Times of Crisis.

Today, the global crisis caused by the Coronavirus pandemic presents a crossroads. The crisis could push marginalised populations in Africa further into poverty and exclusion from development. Alternatively, it could present an opportunity for Africans to reimagine, recreate and redefine the issues, dynamics and underlying structures of our societies and our global relationships. How might Africa and Africans reclaim our agency, and emerge from the pandemic on a path towards thriving?

The programme will begin with opening remarks by the Chairs of The Higherlife Foundation and The Mandela Rhodes Foundation, Mrs Tsitsi Masiywa and Professor Njabulo S. Ndebele. The panellists will be four alumni of The Mandela Rhodes and Higherlife Foundation programmes, namely: Barbara Karuana, Outreach Director for Good Pitch Kenya (Film-maker), Chiedza Juru General Manger STAR Leadership Academy (Chartered Accountant), Dalumuzi Mhlanga Founder & CEO of Notto Inc. (Entrepreneur), and Daniel Ndima, Founding Chief Executive Officer of CapeBio Technologies (Scientist). The conversation will be moderated by Ms Judy Sikuza, CEO of The Mandela Rhodes Foundation.
