Julia Levin (Cloete) (South Africa & University of Cape Town, 2005) is hosting the International Blue Carbon Working Group in Cape Town in September. An Executive Director of Conservation South Africa, a Vice President in the Africa Field Division of Conservation International and part of the CI Global Leadership Team, Julia is dedicated to working on projects that profile nature-based solutions to climate change and planet positive economies in African rangelands. Lunga Radebe (South Africa & University of the Witwatersrand, 2007) is a South African actor, director and screenwriter. Showmax is currently promoting his latest film Uxolo (2023), which centres on two brothers’ rivalry, that comes to a head after their mother’s death. Keenan Meyer (South Africa & University of Pretoria, 2018) is a renowned pianist and composer. He recently performed at the University of Johannesburg Weekend of Jazz, where he premiered his latest body of work, themed around “protest”. Merlyn Nkomo (Zimbabwe & University of Cape Town, 2020) was recently featured in the University of Cape Town’s UCT News for Women’s Month. In the article Merlyn talks about her field of conservation science and her experience of being an African woman in science.
