Almustaqim Balogun
Nigeria & University of Cape Town, 2025 Almustaqim holds a BSc in Plant Biology from the University of Ilorin, Nigeria. His work focuses on climate change and quality education, in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Almustaqim has worked with a variety of local and international non-profit organizations, contributing to communication, advocacy, and policy efforts, while also leading impactful social projects. Some of his previous roles include Climate Communication Fellow for Time for Better, Communications Intern at Salzburg Global Seminar, Consultant for Resilient Foundation, and Communications Associate for Student Energy. Almustaqim’s personal and professional mission revolves around expanding access to education and addressing climate change. He views climate change as one of the most pressing socioeconomic and geopolitical threats. As the founder of Lens for Social Change, a platform utilizing film and photography to raise awareness about the climate crisis, he amplifies climate-related narratives. He also serves as the Director of Partnership for KLCI, a youth-led nonprofit dedicated to empowering underserved communities with essential skills. As a Mandela Rhodes Scholar, Almustaqim will pursue an MSc in Climate Change and Development at the University of Cape Town.
