Benedict Mulindwa

Uganda & University of Cape Town, 2025

Benedict holds a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Makerere University, Kampala, Uganda and has worked as a research and teaching assistant at the Biomedical Engineering Unit for the past three years.

He is interested in using research, innovation, and education as tools to improve healthcare outcomes for people in low-resource settings.

He has been dedicated to impact-driven research to improve the quality of life for people with limb loss by providing technologies that can increase their independence and inclusion in their societies. His interests recently expanded to include translating research into useful medical technologies by ensuring compliance with regulatory standards towards the design and manufacturing of safe, fit-for-purpose medical devices. ‘

He is keen on training and equipping young academic enthusiasts with technical and soft skills to excel in their careers and compete globally.

Beyond his professional pursuits, Benedict enjoys engaging in thought-provoking conversations and is eager to crack open societal norms and stereotypes. In his leisure time, he can be found enjoying an assortment of curated playlists that resonate with his emotions.
