Elizabeth Mwangi
Kenya & University of Cape Town, 2023 Elizabeth Mwangi holds an Honours degree in Social Sciences from the African Leadership University. She considers herself a global citizen and a child of many worlds. Growing up in Europe and Africa and having lived in 6 countries, she has come to see the greatness that is spread across the African continent; through its rich history, diverse nations, and stories of people as one moves through borders. It is through this that she has come to develop a deep passion and commitment towards elevating and supporting young girls and women; alongside the need to see and realise a world where people and nature co-exist harmoniously. Her dedication towards gender and conservation issues has seen her work with numerous communities across Uganda, Zambia, Kenya and South Africa; with a particular keenness on exploring innovative ways that can accelerate the need and scale impact towards a climate-just world and continent. Her interests specifically lie in bringing on human-centred and behavioural design tools and knowledge to centre female leadership within biodiversity conservation and climate action. Liz is also the co-founder of That Glow Factor, a female empowerment platform, that enables young African women to successfully build, launch and accelerate their career journeys. She is also a previous McKinsey Women’s Achievement Awardee 2019; and has received numerous awards and recognition for her leadership journey and entrepreneurial ventures. Her past experiences cut across leading global and pan-African organizations such as the International Union for Conservation of Nature, The Graca Machel Trust, WildAid Africa and The Rallying Cry. Liz loves the outdoors and can often be found hiking, biking and scaling mountains with a dream of one day conquering Mt Everest
