Emma Swart
South Africa & Stellenbosch University, 2024 Emma Swart is a dynamic and passionate young student whose heart is deeply invested in the realms of education, transformation, and leadership. Emma envisions a brighter future where education is a catalyst for positive change, and she is actively working to make that vision a reality. Her journey is a testament to the transformative power of education and the profound impact of purposeful leadership. Throughout her journey, Emma has found herself serving her community in various roles, from ensembles and bands to sports teams, as well as academic mentoring and institutional leadership. Emma medalled at the Trophy Decosse with her Team South Africa for synchronised ice skating and later went on to be the assistant captain of the Western Province Ice Hockey Senior Women’s Team and a member of the South African Ice Hockey Association’s Senior Women's National Squad. She has served on Stellenbosch University’s Academic Affairs Council as the chairperson, as well as the Student Representative Executive Committee as well as numerous other leadership roles, which earned her a coveted Rector’s Award for Excellent Achievement for Leadership and the Abe Bailey Fellowship for Leadership and Excellence. Academically, she has achieved a Merit Award, Top Ten Award, has been included in multiple Dean’s Merit lists, and is a Golden Key Academic Honours Society member. She showcased her passion for transforming culture and enriching leadership within her community, as a CEFF Chancellor’s Bursary Programme Mentor as well as a panelist and mentor at the 2023 Leadership Summit for Aspiring Leaders.
