Esther Opone

Nigeria & University of Cape Town, 2025

Esther holds a Bachelor of Medical Laboratory Science from the university of Ibadan in Nigeria.

As pioneer Product Manager at Mediverse.ai, she leverages her medical background and digital health competencies to improve healthcare outcomes in underserved communities across Africa and the Caribbeans.

She is a 2024 Research Fellow of the Digital Transformations for Health Lab, Fellow of One HealthTech, Ambassador of the African Digital Epidemiology Innovation Network, Graduate Fellow of the West African Institute of Public Health, MIT Engineering Health Equity Hackathon team lead, and President of the African Digital Health Professionals Network, a pan-African community of professionals committed to improving healthcare in Africa with digital technology.

Passionate about personal development and civic engagement, she is the Professional Development and Opportunities Lead for Volunteers Hub Africa, a community of youths engaging in community service and volunteerism towards societal impact and personal development, and has served as Executive Assistant to the Speaker, Oyo State Youth Parliament (2022).

Her work has garnered some recognition, including 16 Emerging Women Leaders Award 2024, Sina Adegunle Young Business Award (Health) by Junior Chamber International Ibadan, and African Women in Digital Health feature by Digital Health Africa.

At leisure, Esther loves books, good clean music, surfing the internet, playing the violin and appreciating all forms of art and creativity.
