Francisca Timothy
Nigeria & Stellenbosch University, 2023 Francisca Timothy holds a Bachelor of Science in Medical Biochemistry from Cross University of Technology, Nigeria. As a Mandela Rhodes Scholar, Francisca is seeking to pursue a Master’s degree in biochemistry. Francisca is an education enthusiast who is passionate about delivering quality education to young women in her community and beyond. She is currently a graduate assistant at the Cross River University of Technology, Nigeria. Since 2018, Francisca has actively volunteered as a facilitator/girl child mentor, where she has been lending her voice and skills to improving issues revolving around girl child education, reproductive health and community development in general. Francisca is also a flexible and seasoned entrepreneur. She is the founder of TMAZ Entrepreneurship Hub, a skill acquisition hub that trains women through vocational skills programs. The programs aim to help the women become self-employed and to contribute meaningfully. Francisca is also a member of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) and an African ChangeMaker fellow. Her career goal is to excel as an educator by mentoring and supporting young women in her community to build healthy self-esteem toward achieving their goals in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). As part of her long-term goals, she hopes to establish a research laboratory with cutting-edge facilities that will aid medical diagnosis in her community.
