Ian Adipo

Kenya & University of Pretoria, 2025

Ian holds a bachelor's degree in Community Development from Africa Nazarene University. His academic background has equipped him with skills in project management, resource mobilization, and sustainable development, allowing him to work in sectors like food insecurity, sustainable agriculture, disaster risk reduction, and environmental sustainability.

He is the founder of Eco-Choo, a social venture dedicated to improving public health and environmental sustainability through accessible sanitation solutions.

Combining “eco” (environmental) and “choo” (Swahili for toilet), Eco-Choo reflects Ian’s dual commitment to addressing sanitation challenges and promoting environmental stewardship. His initiative provides hygienic toilet facilities to underserved communities, reducing disease incidence, and improving quality of life.

A 2024 alumnus of the Global UGRAD Program, As the Programmes and Resource Mobilization Officer at the Gender Violence Recovery Centre, Ian played a key role in securing funding for projects focused on menstrual hygiene and gender-based violence prevention. He successfully helped acquire grants from the Canada Fund for Local Initiative and the Young African Feminist Fund.

Ian’s experience as a Project Associate at Wellness for Greatness Kenya saw him actively promote sustainable agriculture and healthy living among school-aged children.
