Tanzania & University of Cape Town, 2025 Innocent holds a medical degree from Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences in Tanzania. His research interests focus on non-communicable diseases and child and adolescent health. During his undergraduate studies, Innocent honed his leadership skills through his involvement in the Rotaract Club, where he served as the club’s public relations officer and later as vice president. In these roles, he led and participated in impactful initiatives such as the Rotaract blood drive, health screening camps, and fundraising for health insurance for children with chronic illnesses. To advance his career as a medical researcher, Innocent worked as a research assistant evaluating a maternal and new-born care project. Consequently, he secured research grants from the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Health, allowing him to lead studies on paediatric antibiotic self-medication and health-seeking behaviour among adolescents with sickle cell disease. Beyond his medical and research pursuits, Innocent enjoys watching and listening to podcasts, listening to music, reading autobiographies, and recreational jogging. As a Mandela Rhodes Scholar, he will be pursuing a Master's degree in Public Health specializing in Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
