Kudzai Mhwanga

Kudzai Mhangwa is a poet, author, performer, and humanitarian. After graduating from the Catholic University of Zimbabwe, he founded ‘Flower’s Touch’ which aims to provide relief for underprivileged women and girls by providing reusable sanitary wear.

He has provided over six-hundred reusable pads to girls from low-income households and women in prisons in Zimbabwe. His writing includes poetry, short stories, children’s literature, and essays and have found homes in anthologies and magazines across the world.

As a performer he is a classically trained vocalist and an amateur actor. To expand his acting ability, he has ventured into playwriting and directing for both the stage and screen. His ultimate goal is to become an acclaimed performer and writer who creates work that can bring about meaningful change in the world.

His academics, performance, writing and philanthropic efforts have won various awards including the Rector’s Prize for Excellence, 2021 Intwasa Short Story Prize, 2022 Pope Francis Youth Award for Youth and Social Transformation (shortlisted) and 2023 National Arts Merit Award for Best Fiction (nominated). In his spare time, he enjoys reading, taking long walks, spending hours on YouTube and watching television.
