Mathew Saunders
South Africa & University of Cape Town, 2018 Mathew Saunders graduated from the University of Cape Town (UCT), with a Bachelor of Business Science majoring in Finance & Accounting. He then continued his postgraduate studies in Accounting at the same university, in 2018. At the University of Cape, Mathew was a House Committee member for Kopano Residence in 2015, managing the Sports, Health, Safety & Security of a residence of about 360 students. In 2015, he co-founded an advertising start-up that acted as an intermediary for external companies wanting to advertise in the top universities in South Africa. As a big sports enthusiast, Mathew also captained his residence team in the UCT internal league. In 2016, Mathew was awarded the Klaus-Jürgen Bathe Leadership scholarship for his leadership potential. He was an Orientation Leader for international students for 2 years, as well as a Commerce Faculty mentor for first years and a MasterCard Peer Mentor where he was responsible for integrating postgraduate students from sub-Saharan Africa into the university. An accountant at heart, Mathew has interned at KPMG and is pursuant of the Chartered Accounting qualification. He is currently working as a management consultant for the Boston Consulting Group in Johannesburg.
