Matsepe Tsiu
South Africa & University of Cape Town, 2018 Matsepe Modikeng Theodore Tsiu was born on a Tuesday afternoon in winter, in Vanderbijlpark Hospital, situated in said key town of the Vaal region of southern Gauteng in the Republic of South Africa. He grew up in Centurion, a Highveld town south of Pretoria in northern Gauteng, where he completed his pre-school, primary school and high school education, with all three institutions being on the same street. He first registered as a student at the University of Cape Town in 2014 and proceeded over the following five years to earn three degrees therefrom: a Bachelor of Commerce in Management Studies (majoring in Economics and Mathematics), a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) in Financial Analysis and Portfolio Management (during which time he also completed the undergraduate major in Finance) and a Master of Commerce in Investment Management. He is currently working for Sasol Ltd in the budgeting and forecasting space for Sasol Energy Business, covering the Fuels, Gas and Mining businesses. He splits his spare time among several activities: keeping up to date with current affairs and global events, scanning his surroundings for entrepreneurial opportunities, developing the next great bond and option pricing models, and laughing on weekends with friends. Matsepe is an aspiring young African and is eager to see Africa become stable, upright and truly independent.
