Maureen Etuket
Uganda & University of Cape Town, 2021 Maureen Etuket is a biomedical engineer, a MedTech innovator and engineering entrepreneur. She completed her Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering at Makerere University and has since been occupied with solving African health challenges by applying engineering knowledge, skills and management principles. Maureen has special interest in the fields of maternal health, rehabilitation engineering and emergency medicine. She has devoted a considerable amount of time packaging innovations right from the grassroots to the prototype, testing stages with some undergoing clinical trials. In line with this she co-founded a Limited by Guarantee company; Principality MedTech LTD with a vision to lead in the indigenous production of medical devices that solve maternal and child health challenges in Sub-Saharan Africa. To date they have been able to develop two devices; The Maternal PPH wrap and the SMART PVD. Maureen’s present workstation is at Kyaninga Mobility Ltd as a Chief Engineering Manager, leading a project focused on the local development of context-specific mobility devices. She also doubles as a Research Assistant at Makerere University, College of Health Sciences working on several Biomedical Engineering capacity building projects and engineering solutions to local health problems. Above all, Maureen is a believer. She believes in God, she believes in people and she believes in Africa. Her vision is to see to it that hope can be restored through innovation and that Africa can begin to believe in herself again. She is a doubtless and ardent believer in “African solutions for African problems!”
