Munaka Munyai

South Africa & University of Cape Town, 2024

Munaka Tshilidzi Munyai completed her Bachelor of Arts and Postgraduate Certificate in Education at the University of Cape Town. She is a fellow of the prestigious Jakes Gerwel Fellowship that selects, supports, and develops high-impact educational practitioners, entrepreneurs, and leaders.

Throughout her life, she has displayed a vested interest in education, arts, and culture. By leveraging the opportunity of various roles, mentors, and organisations, she has sought to integrate these passions and sectors by driving teams and projects for the service and empowerment of youth development and wider societal change.

Her professional focus in education centres around the mandates of 21st century competencies and nation-building in order to evoke the fullest potential of South African students and youth to actualise the best outcomes for the country and continent.

Her lifetime objective in any teaching and leading capacity is to persist in optimistically believing in the good of the human spirit to foster holistic development whilst holding the crucial tension of critical and meaningful transformation in a world plagued by the consequences of human injustice.

In her personal life, Munaka is endeared for her humour, biblical trivia, camaraderie, poetic interjections, and spontaneous burst into song based on a word shared in conversation.
