Onkabetse (Olo) holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, specializing in Civil Engineering, and graduated with first-class honours from the University of Cape Town.

She has received numerous academic accolades, including recognition on the Dean's list and becoming a member of the UCT Golden Key Honour Society.

Onkabetse has served as a mentor in the Civil Engineering department, eventually taking on the role of head mentor in her final year.

She also served as a design coach in UCT’s Civil Engineering department, guiding final-year students through the complex design stages of water treatment.

Driven by a vision to advance water reuse research across Africa, Onkabetse envisions a future where every community on the continent is empowered with the knowledge and tools to implement sustainable water practices.

As an aspiring water quality specialist with a passion for wastewater reuse, Onkabetse believes that there is no such thing as wastewater—only wasted water.

She is excited to pursue her MSc in Water Quality Engineering at the University of Cape Town.
