Shelley Ngugi
Kenya & University of Cape Town, 2025 Shelley holds a Bachelor of Science, Geospatial Engineering from the University of Nairobi in Kenya. 'The war against hunger is truly mankind's war of liberation' by J.F. Kennedy is what drives Shelley. During her tenure at the University of Nairobi, she gravitated towards projects that leverage multidisciplinary technologies to address critical agricultural challenges. These include “small scale crop mapping using Artificial Intelligence and machine learning” and “leveraging on Geographic Information Systems to increase the efficiency of subsidized fertilizer distribution.” Shelley is the founder of a community-based organisation “The Consortium for Women in STEM Empowerment” which focuses on encouraging more children especially girl children to pursue STEM courses. Beyond her academics and professional pursuits, she loves to travel, spend time with her family and bond with mother nature.
