Tony Mwangi
Kenya & University of Cape Town, 2025 Tony graduated summa cum laude from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Tony developed of an ongoing smart irrigation project aimed at improving the livelihoods of farmers in rural Kenya by automating water distribution to ensure efficient use of resources in agriculture. As an active volunteer and leader with the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) where he has been involved in various technical and CSR projects focused on advancing technology for humanity. His work with IEEE has enabled him to collaborate on innovative solutions to humanitarian challenges, furthering his belief that technology can drive sustainable change. Tony's vision is to harness education and innovation to tackle Africa’s most pressing issues, driving sustainable development and bridging socio-economic disparities. He also hopes to inspire young people in rural Kenya and beyond to pursue their dreams. In his free time, Tony enjoys aviation, reading, and cycling.
