Travis Malizani
Malawi & University of the Witwatersrand, 2025 Travis holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Aerospace Engineering (majoring in Flight Vehicle Design) from the Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics. With a passion for technological innovation and inclusive education for human advancement, Travis has committed his career towards capacity building of the African Space Industry and inspiring other African youth to pursue space-related and STEM-related careers with a focus on 21st century skills. He is a recipient of the 2024 African Space Leader award by the Space Generation Advisory Council, which works in collaboration with the United Nations Programme on Space Applications, for his efforts towards STEM capacity building initiatives for young Africans. Travis was a Country Coordinator for Malawi at the Southern Africa Regional Office of Astronomy for Development and National Point of Contact for Malawi at the Space Generation Advisory Council. He aims to contribute to Africa’s space renaissance as the continent develops its own space programs tailored towards addressing Africa-centric challenges.
