After transitioning out of a refugee, conflict and humanitarian aid setting, I have recently joined Chicoa Fish Farm and am responsible for expanding and strengthening their social impact initiatives. This includes community engagement, gender empowerment, expanding sustainable practices, integrating a business and human rights approach to the company and striving to meet Mozambique's protein demands through a sustainable and inclusive business model. Additional responsibilities include donor liaison, promoting aquaculture through advocacy efforts, industry and government engagement. The role is people-oriented and every day requires emotional intelligence and a steep learning curve in an industry I know nothing about and in a field I never thought I'd end up in. No two work days are the same - which is exactly how I like it!
