Agnes Kabonesa is a former child bride who has been teaching professional English Language and literature through community work over five years. She has done advocacy work campaigning towards ending violence against children, especially child marriages, child sacrifice and violence in schools. She has worked in partnership with schools as a mentor, life skills trainer, peer education, career guidance and counsellor. She volunteered as a publicity secretary for Alive With Purpose Youth Group (AWIP) which does community sensitisation through music, dance and drama on women and girls’ issues, domestic violence, gender-based violence, HIV/AIDS, Education, child marriages.
Agnes is passionate about children’s rights, youth development and transformation. Her long-term goal is to have a children’s education and sports centre and a community college for vocational skills. She has been a leader in different capacities as a young delegate to the African Union Launch of Ending Violence Against Children campaign 2017. Agne was a World Vision young delegate to the European Union development days Conference 2018 and a Mandela Washington Fellow 2018.
