Many exciting events and updates to report. I have been working for an NGO in Port Elizabeth called Early Inspiration working on developing community programmes to promote Early Childhood Development. I have been a part of a multidisciplinary team working with ECD Practitioners, parents and children on various projects in Port Elizabeth, Graaff Reinet, Butterworth, Flagstaff, Cape Town, Someset East, Bedford, Adelaide & Cookhouse – just to name a few! It’s been an incredible year developing material to promote healthy parenting practices, effective preschools & crèches, special needs support & nutrition education for parents.

I have been supervising research at NMMU which has been fruitful in a collaborative project between the NMMU Dietetics Department, Social Work Department & UNICEF. The aim of the project is to improve childhood malnutrition, morbidity and mortality through participatory approaches (iMAP) in the Eastern and Northern Cape province. It’s been wonderful to implement research into practice while involving the community in a practical and transformative process.

On a more personal note, I will be married on 19 December 2016 to Bjorn Ronaasen, an incredible man who sees the world in a wonderfully value driven way.
