Stellamaris Njage

Kenya, 2020

Stellamaris Njage is a back-end software developer herself who is passionate about technology and creating a space for women in technology. Academically, she holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics and Computer Science from Maseno University, Kenya. She enjoys contributing to open source projects, using her free time to volunteer and mentor at Rails Girls Nairobi and Girls Get Geeky (initiatives that introduce women to best programming practices and mentorship), and Agile Ventures.

Recently, Stellamaris has given presentations at Nairuby Conference and The GNOME conference in Greece. She also managed to complete the 2018 and 2019 HacktoberFest challenge, which aims at promoting the open source spirit. Stellemaris has completed the Google Summer of Code and Rails Girls Summer of code internships and is currently a core contributor at EBwiki, an organisation that works towards ending bias against people of color.

Stellamaris is also a Diversity and Inclusion and University outreach committee member at GNOME.  She is an adrenaline junkie and enjoys outdoor activities such as hiking and travelling.
