Cissé Oumar

Oumar Cisse is a graduate of the African Leadership University in Rwanda where he completed a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Global Challenges as a MAVA Scholar in the School of Wildlife Conservation.

Oumar is from Nouakchott, Mauritania. He is an aspiring conservationist and is passionate about environmental management. He is the founder of SeedBall Mauritania, an NGO that focuses on the environment and gives companies the opportunity to take concrete action in favor of reforestation in Mauritania, through a unique approach called the seedball method. In Rwanda, he co-founded The Power Circle that works to minimise food waste through utilising black soldier fly insects.

As a Mandela Rhodes Scholar, Oumar intends to study an MSc in Environmental Science that focuses on building environmental resilience in vulnerable and marginalised communities. He believes that this will enable him to realise his mission of cultivating sustainable development within his communities.
