Grace Kathure
Kenya & University of Cape Town, 2024 Grace graduated with first-class honours in Economics and Statistics from Chuka University. She is a certified investment and finance analyst by the Kenya Accountants and Secretaries National Examinations Board (KASNEB). Beyond numbers and analyses, Grace’s heart beats for mentoring the next generation. She participates in student leaders’ mentorship and leadership development across universities and colleges in Kenya through the Focus Kenya organization. Additionally, she is a youth executive leader in KAPA, a flagship initiative founded by her community’s elite members to promote education and women’s empowerment. Having worked for a top commercial bank in Kenya and the Central Bank of Kenya, Grace is inspired to contribute to equitable economic transformation in Kenya. She has started women’s economic programs in the Meru community through KAPA, where she encourages women, often sidelined by inheritance customs and banking prerequisites, to venture into digital finance as an alternative to traditional credit systems. Through the Mandela Rhodes Scholarship to advance her education in Master of Commerce (Applied Economics) at the University of Cape Town, Grace aims to decode the puzzle of economic prosperity in diverse African settings. It is not just about charts and graphs for her; it is about connecting the dots between people, dreams, and opportunities, crafting a tale of hope and transformation for all. Grace enjoys nature walks, cooking, and knitting in her free time.
